How to Introduce Fashion Students to the Circular Economy and Its Tools?

Context

First-year students in the Master's in Contemporary Fashion Design at the International Fashion Industry Academy had had the opportunity to explore the concept of the circular economy in previous modules. IFA Paris wanted to build on their knowledge of the topic and give them all the keys to succeed in their end-of-year project.

Needs

IFA Paris wanted to train some of its students in the circular economy and Circulab's tools. This training would let students apply the knowledge and skills gained to their end-of-year project.

Approach

To help participants fully understand the circular economy concept, a comprehensive 3-day training on two of Circulab's tools was proposed.

Process

During these 3 days of training, students had the opportunity to:

• Understand the current context and how the circular economy and systems thinking can be a solution, and carry out an investigation workshop using the Value Chain Canvas.
• Apply what they learned during the training, notably through an ideation workshop using the Circular Canvas.
• Carry out a case study of a business model in the fashion industry, as well as a creation and implementation workshop with Circulab's Circular Canvas tool.

Results

This 3-day training helped train 17 students in circular economy principles, letting them apply them to various projects in the fashion and textile industries.
