How to Seize Circular Economy Opportunities in Retail?

Case Study: LANCÔME

Context

As part of its ongoing sustainability commitments, Lancôme approached Circulab Academy for a training program to help its retail teams improve their processes.

Needs

Lancôme's retail teams wanted a training program that would let them rethink how they design, reduce their waste, and cut their carbon footprint, while limiting costs.

Approach

To address the teams' core needs, we felt it was important for them to fully grasp the circular economy opportunities within their activities. To that end, a comprehensive two-day in-person training, combining theory and practice, was proposed.

Process

Over these two days of training, retail teams were able to:

  • Understand the circular economy and systems thinking
  • Map the system around a product/service to understand its economic, social, and environmental impacts
  • Apply circular design to their projects using the Circular Canvas

Results

About twenty people were trained and improved their practices by integrating circular design into their projects.

I recommend this training across my department at Lancôme (...) The first part on systems thinking really struck me: it was a complete discovery. The Canvas tool is great, but it requires practice and support.
